Lake Suwa in Nagano Prefecture is the largest lake in the area, surrounded by the Japan Alps. It’s a great spot for boating, fishing, and lakeside walks. In winter, the frozen lake shows off the cool Omiwatari ice ridges, which have spiritual meaning. Summers are famous for the huge Suwako Fireworks Festival, one of Japan’s biggest fireworks events.
